Lichfield Mystery Plays 2016

An enormous THANK YOU to all of our lovely participants, play directors, event volunteers, supporters, funders and sponsors for making our May 2016 production a wonderful success. You created a really memorable Mysteries to be proud of!

Have a look at a few of our favourite moments.

On 1st & 2nd May 2016, 24 plays were performed by local groups at both indoor and outdoor venues in Lichfield city centre. Out of 96 individual play performances only 2 were lost to rain – amazing!  Alongside the plays were super performances on the Lichfield Garrick Community Stage from Lichfield Poets and Poetry for the People, Lichfield Lighthouse Company (the UK’s most land-locked shanty side!) and Shepherds Crook Puppet Theatre. Rugeley Phoenix Photography Group and Sylvia Royal’s Art Groups exhibited their beautiful Mysteries inspired work at the Lichfield Garrick and Lichfield Cathedral and Maria Whatton, acclaimed local storyteller, brought the medieval world to life with some dark and ancient stories at the George IV pub and St. Mary’s Centre.

Lichfield Mysteries 2016 was a great example of our community coming together to share, help and learn with the final event being a fantastic celebration of our community’s talent. Best of all, everyone had enormous fun!
