The following is a message of support sent in July 2007

My acting career began playing Mary alongside my father's Joseph in the York Mystery plays, which represent one of the longest continuous performance themes in the whole canon of English drama.

It's a source of particular pleasure for me to continue as Honorary Patron of the Lichfield Mysteries and to see this great Medieval tradition go from strength to strength. This would not be possible without the full support of the local community, both in terms of active participation and by way of material donations.

One of the great beauties of the Lichfield cycle is its emphasis on amateur participation, truly making it an event for all, whatever their background and circumstances. This, coupled with free entrance, allows the whole community to get involved, which is sadly so rare in these times. But it does also mean that without your support these "Miracles" would struggle to continue.

So please get involved as a performer or supporter. Make a commitment now to take part in or go and see the 2009 cycle or one of the many individual events in the 'run up' to it. In the meantime please help by sending a donation. With your help we can all continue to see "something really amazing in Lichfield", culminating in the next full performance of the Lichfield Mysteries cycle on May 3rd & 4th 2009.
